Yes Vermont Yankee: Summertime and Truth: Reading about Courage and about Quebec

Yes Vermont Yankee: Summertime and Truth: Reading about Courage and about Quebec

What is more important--your automobile or electrical energy?

Of course (for most with an intellect)---electricity is most important---there would be no cars without it. There would be a lot of no -- "Things" without electrical power.

Life is filled with cost verses benefit.

Having cars means killing the population of Burlington VT here in the USA each year for about the last 80 years. One million world wide.

It also involves injuring 1,000,000 people here in the USA (many many children) -- 30% involving head trauma. Twenty million world wide.

Does anyone protest driving automobiles---of course not--but why not? Probably because we cannot (do not want to) live without it.

How many people have died from the effects of Nuclear Power generation here in the USA? --No one.

In France where almost 90% of it's power comes from Nuclear? -- No one.

In Japan? No one yet. And that was a significant event.

Chernobyl--a big disaster killing far less than an hours worth of car accidents.

The fear of Nuclear disaster is compounded by politicians like Gov, Shumlin and others who pander to the loud, vocal, well meaning minority in hopes to gain Liberal voters (I'm a liberal voter).

Nuclear Power Plants are not atom bombs. Bad things could and have happened--but nothing like what the automobile has managed to provide us and will continue for as long as we tolerate killing and maiming so many for the luxury of traveling quickly to wherever we like.

Why not take a less-than-driving-an-automobile way to continue providing relatively cheap pollution free electrical power? A product that our civilization would cease to exist without. Why not?---it would seem like common sense to support Nuclear energy until we find a non-carbon replacement. Trouble is--Common sense is uncommon.

Ist Photo--Mikey---Pre Archangel, between highs
Wedding Photo: Michael Earl, wedding pic at 17, a good looking young man who danced like Michael Jackson and well into becoming addicted to speed.

This Photo: Michael The Archangel on a speed roll. Much like his name sake Michael Jackson, each had issues requiring medication in order to tolerate their perception of the world---both entertaining in their separate way. Both tragic, and colorful.
